NOTE: A kit with the punch, tube, and instructions can be obtained from the Tissue Bank. If both of these tissue types are unavailable, 15 unstained slides may be submitted. Block, core, or slides must be clearly labeled with the pathology identification number that corresponds to the Pathology Report. A Pathology Report documenting that the submitted block, core, or slides contain tumor; the report must include the RTOG protocol number and patient's case number. The patient's name and or other identifying information should be removed from the report. The surgical pathology numbers and information must NOT be removed from the report. Results showed the presence of enterovirus RNA in only 13 percent of the FM CFS patients in the relatively small study. The French paper cites previous research that links inflammatory muscle disease and autoimmune disorders, with enterovirus proposed as one of the triggering agents. French researchers hoped to answer questions regarding the role of enterovirus in the pathogenesis of CFS and FM, noninflammatory muscular syndrome with dominant fatigue and pain symptoms.
