Field observations reveal a net progression of the intensity of deformation of orthogeisses to ultramylotinised granites having an identical chemical composition as the orthogneisses. The mylonitisation is marked by a reduction in grain size, in the percentage of the megacrystals of feldspars and by the flattened, elongated and stretched forms of minerals, with the main ones including: orthoclase, which is present as elongated crystals with sigmoidal and elliptical shapes, with oblique fissuration planes at the long axes of the mineral; quartz which is in the form of rubans and xenomorphic stretched crystals; biotite which is less abundant, with crystals disposed parallelly at the borders of orthoclase clasts, the latter showing shadow zones with quartz grains. The organization of those minerals in the rock forms the S C structure whose identification in the field permitted to determine the sinistral trend of the shear movement.

Anti-inflammatory drugs were administered in our study. Administration of urbason retard produced significant increase of serum ALT. It was reported by Tietz 16 ; that although serum levels of both AST and ALT become elevated whenever disease process or lesions affect liver cell integrity, serum elevations of ALT are rarely observed except in parenchymal liver disease and lesions. Moreover, elevations of ALT activity persist longer than do those of AST activity.

From the perspective of the general question as to whether EU Member States have increased the employment-orientation of their benefit systems in recent years, we have combined information on the number of persons in employment, on unemployment benefits and social assistance, and the total working age population into one graph see figure 3.18 ; . The idea is that when indeed a shift from passive to active policies has taken place, this would be reflected by a decrease in the area indicating benefit dependency in the graph in combination with a decrease in the area on the inactive population.

The first two Fields Medals ever awarded. The prestige was perhaps not yet the same as it is now, but in any case I felt singled out and greatly honored. The citation by Carathodory mentions explicitly my paper "Zur Theorie der berlagerungsflchen, " which threw some new light on Nevanlinna's theory of meromorphic functions. The award contributed in great measure to the confidence I felt in my work. During World War II Ahlfors was forced to pawn his Fields Medal in order to obtain the money to secure safe passage from Finland to Zurich at the end of the war. Ahlfors's remarks on the incident were: I can give one very definite benefit [of winning a Fields Medal]. When I was able to leave Finland to go to Sweden, I was not allowed to take more than 10 crowns with me, and I wanted to take a train to where my wife was waiting for me. So what did I do? I smuggled out my Fields Medal, and I pawned it in the pawn shop and got enough money. I had no other way, no other way at all. And I'm sure that it's the only Fields Medal that has been in a pawn shop. As soon as I got a little money, some people in Switzerland helped me retrieve it. Another remarkable achievement of Lars Ahlfors is that he was invited to be a plenary speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians on three different occasions. No other mathematician in the past seventy years has achieved such a distinction. His plenary addresses were about three completely distinct areas in which he had made seminal contributions. Background: RTV-boosted protease inhibitors PIs ; are a critical component of many successful antiretroviral ARV ; regimens. Selective non-adherence to or "staggering" of RTV doses i.e. dosing 4 hrs from the other PI ; may reduce exposure to the boosted PI. Adherence studies employing electronic monitoring MEMS ; have generally been limited to the boosted PI; little is known about concordant adherence to and staggering of RTV. Methods: HIV + subjects receiving RTV-boosted ATV or fAPV enrolled in a 24-wk, prospective adherence study. Subjects used MEMS monitors on both their RTV and ATV or fAPV bottles. Subjects and staff were blinded to adherence data. The adherence rate for each medication was defined as 100x # bottle openings # prescribed doses ; . Subjects with RTV adherence 5% less than ATV fAPV adherence were considered selectively non-adherent to RTV. The % of RTV doses that occurred 4 hrs apart from the corresponding ATV fAPV dose staggered doses ; was calculated. HIV-1 viral load VL ; was measured at 24 wks. Results: 35 subjects completed the study: mean age 45.2; 57% male, 40% female, 3% transgender; 46% Hispanic, 49% Black nonHispanic; HIV risk-factors: 40% heterosexual, 34% IDU, 3% MSM non-IDU, 23% unknown. At enrollment 74% had CDC-defined AIDS; 71% had 5 yrs of ARV experience; mean entry CD4 477 cells uL; 74% with VL 75 c mL. ARV regimens were: 26 ATV RTV, 9 fAPV RTV; 80% 2 NRTIs, 17% 3 NRTIs, 3% 1 NRTI. 97% received their PIs once daily. Mean adherence rates to ATV fAPV and RTV were both 77%. 3 35 ; were selectively non-adherent to RTV. Over the course of the study, 212 4710 4.5% ; doses of RTV were staggered, and 7 35 20% ; subjects staggered 5% of RTV doses. Mean adherence to PIs both ATV fAPV and RTV ; in those N 27 ; with VL 75 c was significantly higher than those N 8 ; with VL75 c mL 86% vs, 46%, P 0.005 Wilcoxon ; . The 3 subjects with selective non-adherence to RTV had a mean adherence to ATV fAPV of 93%, and all achieved VL 75 c mL. There was no difference in proportion of subjects achieving VL 75 c among subjects who staggered doses compared to those who did not. Conclusions: Of the 35 subjects receiving RTV-boosted ATV or fAPV, 9% were selectively non-adherent to RTV. Dosestaggering, i.e. taking RTV 4 hrs apart from the boosted PI, occurred in 20%. Efforts to maintain and improve adherence in recipients of RTV-boosted PIs should consider these relatively common variations in adherence behaviors.
Incorporating HACCP ; in recent years. They are likely to become compulsory soon in NSW for high risk industryies ; . A food safety program is not infallible. Once it is implemented it is no fail-safe guarantee that all food safety hazards have been eliminated. It is a working document that needs constant surveillance and corrective action when things don't go according to plan or specification. The classic example I see is monitoring of temperatures in a coolroom or display cabinet. On one hand you see the same temperature entered ad nauseaum down the column and wonder just how representative it is. On the other hand you see entries for 8 and 9 degrees C when the maximum allowed is 5C. It is just entered without any highlighting, any corrective action, or any investigation as to why the reading is out of spec. I mean, what's the point? Also while I'm on this issue - it's product temperature that's important not air temperature. And yes that includes all of the product, even the product stacked five or six high, is near the edge of the display, or in some cases is in direct sunlight! Another beef of mine is the correct use of gloves. So often I assured by food businesses that the staff wear gloves at all times. And yes, we have received complaints from customers seeing staff wearing them into the toilet and then proceeding straight back to their food preparation! I would rather see a clean pair of hands touching food than a dirty pair of gloves and ginkgo.

There is nothing new in these composite simplifications. Five hundred years ago the co-ordinates of the `recognisable' London were, naturally, not the distant and barely connected Westminster. Controlled-release therapeutic system, due to the susceptibility of periodontal pathogens to a number of antibiotics such as tetracycline and metronidazole Walker et ah, 1981; Sutter et ah, 1983; Baker et ah, 1985 ; . Considerable work has been devoted to the developing methods for the intra-oral delivery of antibiotics as well as the antimicrobial agent chlorhexidine. The approach in most cases has been to produce a monolithic he no membrane ; drug-containing polymeric strip or fiber that is designed to be placed directly into the periodontal pocket where the drug would be released at the site of action Addy et ah, 1982; Khoo and Newman, 1983; Soskolne et ah, 1983; Golomb et ah, 1984; Goodson et ah, 1983; Goodson, 1984 ; . While providing site-specific delivery, the rate of drug release from most of these strips or fibers declined rapidly over a period of a few days, and they were not true controlled-release delivery systems. However, one of the more successful programs in this area--namely, that of Goodson and collaborators--has produced and evaluated clinically tetracydine-containing fibers that released tetracycline in vitro at a relatively constant rate for a period of nine days Goodson et ah, 1983, 1985, 1986 ; . The monolithic fibers were composed of 25% tetracycline HC1 and 75% ethylene: vinyl acetate copolymer Goodson et ah, 1983 ; . They were approximately 0.5 mm in diameter and contained 0.446 mg of tetracycline HC1 per cm. Monolithic delivery systems with low drug loadings such as these are capable of relatively steady drug release after an initial burst which depletes the outer layers of the system, which then acts as a pseudo-membrane. The release kinetics usually deviate more from linearity than with membrane-controlled systems, but monolithic systems are generally easier to produce and exhibit smaller increases in rate of drug release if damaged than do membrane-controlled systems. The principal disadvantage of using a monolithic system for intra-oral therapy is the high percentage of inert material present which increases the bulk of the system. The daily in vitro release rate for the monolithic fibers, after an initial rate for one day of 100 |xg per cm, was approximately 25 jig per cm for days 2 to 9. clinical application Goodson et ah, 1985, 1986 ; , pockets to be treated were packed with the fibers and covered with periodontal dressing. The fibers were left in place for ten days. An average of 20.7 cm 37 mg ; of fiber was packed around each treated tooth, for a total load of tetracycline HC1 of approximately 9.2 mg per tooth. During the ten-day treatment period, it was estimated that 2.4 mg of tetracycline H O was released at each treated tooth site, and this corresponded to 25% of the tetracycline content of the fibers. The estimated total dose of tetracycline HC1 per patient over the ten days was only 24 mg. Nevertheless, by delivering tetracycline directly into the pocket, this small dose was able to produce significant concentrations of tetracycline in gingival crevicular fluid, with 650 jig mL present at the start and 643 fjig mL present at the end of treatment. This is and gleevec.

In Open GL this relationship is termed eye-coordinates and along with object coordinates and clip co-ordinates constitutes one of three types of co-ordinates which are systematically integrated fig. 26-28 * ; . Hence, whereas Renaissance perspective was limited to the use of a single window, Open GL eploys a windows approach in the literal sense, which is why one can have perspectival scenes within scenes in the Silicon Graphics, Kubota and other high end graphics environments. The full consequences of this approach are best seen through examples produced by Alias and SoftImage software. One can create photo-realistic views of real or imaginary rooms pl. 105.1-2 ; , or the interiors of entire buildings pl. 106.1-2 ; . These principles have been used in reconstruction of buildings no longer existent pl. 109 in design, i.e. the projection of buildings that were only later constructed pl. 107-108 ; , and in futuristic buildings which may never be built pl. 110 ; . Lighting and Radiosity Basic to these developments has been the extension of perspectival principles to problems of lighting. In 3-D Studio lighting functions as either an invisible pl. 113.1 ; or a visible pyramid, which can be projected through regular apertures to produce anamophic images pl. 113.2 ; . Multiple lights can also be used pl. 113.3 ; , which can then be dimmed or altered to createatmospheric effects akin to fog pl. 113.4 ; . More complex software such as Lightscape uses radiosity pl. 114.1-2 ; . Technically speaking a one-to-one correspondence is only possible in the case of vector graphics, where entire lines are copied. In the case of raster graphics349 the copying of points presents problems of aliasing especially in the case of distant objects. Even so it is noteworthy that the underlying assumptions governing perspective apply equally to pixel projection used in ray tracing. As Mitchell noted in The Re-configured Eye: "The basic strategy implemented by ray-tracing algorithms is to consider the picture plane as a fine grid of pixels placed between the viewer's eye and the screen and to send a ray from the eye through each pixel to the scene"350. Scholars such as Mitchell351 have also emphasized differences between the continuous lines of analogue methods and the discrete pixels of digital methods, suggesting that perspective applies only to the former. Lansdale352, in a fundamental dissertation on the subject, has demonstrated lucidly how the principles of linear perspective can be extended to discrete pixels in ray tracing and radiosity programs. In traditional Renaissance perspective one often begins with a square tile parallel or at right angles to the picture plane and records its projected size. In Lansdale's approach this procedure is reversed: i.e. a square pixel is treated in the manner of a projected square tile on the picture plane or screen and is then projected back onto the textured 3-D object. In this way the specific texels unprojected pixels of the textured 3-D object ; occluded by the projected pixel can be calculated. Although the direction is reversed, the projection of this pixel from a screen onto a textured object in modern perspective corresponds precisely to the projection of a square from a wall or pavement onto a perspectival window in Renaissance perspective. Seen in this way the recording of electronic pixels is analogous to a microscopic approach in recording tiles of a wall or pavement perspectivally fig. 35-36 ; . In other examples, a spherical shape on the picture plane or screen is projected as an oval shape onto the pavement positioned at an angle relative to the plane fig. 37 ; . This is precisely the reverse of an anamorphic form which and gemzar.
