1. Introduction Interactions between surfactant molecules and natural polymers have been extensively reviewed.1-3 These studies have shown that complexes can be formed between proteins and surfactants in the bulk phase. Two types of protein surfactant interactions have been proposed: a ; specific binding via electrostatic attraction and b ; cooperative association of the surfactant to the protein via hydrophobic affinity. These interactions can give rise to important changes to the physicochemical properties of biopolymer systems and play an important role in biological and pharmacological applications. Human serum albumin HSA ; is used as a model protein for studying the interaction between proteins and different surface substrates.4, 5 HSA is a globular protein that consists of 585 amino acids in a single polypeptide chain with a molar mass of 66 411 g mol-1, and it constitutes approximately half of the total blood protein, acting as carrier for fatty acids and several amphiphiles from bloodstream to tissues and hence is an appropriate choice of protein for studying the interaction with amphiphilic drugs.6-7 In this work, we report determinations of viscosities for HSA-penicillin complexes with the HSA concentration, 4 and 20 ; g L-1, and at the temperatures of 20, 30, 40, and 50 ; C and pH 7.4. The penicillins chosen were cloxacillin and dicloxacillin, two structurally related anionic amphiphilic penicillins, which differ only in an additional chlorine atom on the phenyl ring of dicloxacillin see Figure 1 ; . The globular protein HSA is negatively charged at pH 7.4, and therefore only hydrophobic interactions are established between protein and the penicillins. The measurements were done above the isoelectric point of the protein 4.9 ; because the change in the pH alters the charge distributions of the protein molecule and hence the stability and tendency for surface adsorption.8 2. Experimental Section Materials. HSA 70024-90-7 ; , sodium cloxacillin monohydrate 5- methyl-3- o-chlorophenyl ; -4-isoxazolyl ; and sodium dicloxacillin monohydrate 3- 2, 6-dichlorophenyl ; 5-methyl-R-isoxazolyl ; with at least 98.5% purity were obtained from Sigma Chemical Company. The molecular weights of cloxacillin and dicloxacillin are 475.9 g mol-1.

After discussion with and consent from the patient, a third CP block was performed 2 days later with 15 mL of alcohol, dramatically alleviating pain 2-3 10 VAS ; . On the afternoon of the last block, the patient developed diarrhea, which persisted after hospital discharge. Bowel movements were watery and nonbloody, occurring seven to nine times daily and occasionally nocturnally, despite discontinuation of all laxatives lactulose, docusate sodium ; and antibiotics i.e., dicloxacillin for treatment of superficial cellulitis at the site of intravenous administration ; . Stool cultures for bacteria and for ova and parasites and the test result for Clostridium difficile toxin were all negative. Over the next 2 weeks, methadone dosage was tapered to 150 mg orally daily and morphine administration was discontinued. The possibility of opiate withdrawal-related diarrhea was considered and treated with loperamide 4 mg five times daily, with minimal effect. For the next 4 months, the pattern of diarrhea was characterized by days of frequent watery bowel movements up to 30 times a day ; , in variable quantity, alternating with days of constipation. Some antibiotics impair fermentative activities in the colon and reduce faecal SCFA levels. In the studies of HOVERSTAD et al. High concentrations of clindamycin, bacitracin, erythromycin, vancomycin and nalidixic acid were found in faeces. Molar ratios of butyrate decreased with clindamycin, ampicillin, bacitracin and vancomycin. Studies in vitro show that clindamycin, erythromycin and dicloxacillin reduce fermentative activity whereas penicillin and pivampicillin have no effect [185187]. Lactate does not accumulate in vitro indicating a general suppression of fermentation rather than specific bacteria being affected. However, a pronounced increase in succinate concentrations in faeces 4.2 to 40.0 ; in healthy subjects taking a combination of neomycin, bacitracin, colistin and nystatin [188], together with reduction in SCFA 77.8 to 19.0 ; , was seen in the studies of WILSON et al. [189] suggesting inhibition of succinate utilising species.

The Seretide ad was seen by GPs as an emotive visual, showing the two children jumping into the water. The square London Eye visual of Transtec caught some GPs' imagination as a good image for `transforming pain'." GPs testing an ad concept have often said that there's not enough information or facts about the product within the visual. Fosamax was chosen as the most interesting and informative ad in this category, with GPs favouring `clearly presented factual data'. Arcoxia, Cipralex and Zocor also fared well in this category as did the newly launched Spiriva. In the `most humorous ad' category, GPs were tickled pink with the Flomax ad. The man with the hosepipe was considered funny, cheeky and comical, with one GP saying "I smile each time I see this ad very smart". Another GP was reminded of "a seaside postcard double entendre". Other important messages garnered from the ad were that the ad's image portrayed an `insinuation of good urinary flow with the hosepipe!", and the "visual link of hosing and passing urine with good stream". Several GPs mentioned that the ad was funny regarding the `urinary flow'. Uprima's series of Urban Tales campaign was the second favourite amongst GPs. The visuals were appreciated amongst GPs for their "slightly risque comic strip appeal". One GP particularly liked the "expression on the man's face as he looks at her bottom", and one GP eloquently summed it up as novel series of cartoons which gives humour to a delicate subject". Interestingly, of all the categories, GPs became most animated when asked to nominate an ad for `the most humorous ad' category. GPs' responses were more descriptive and their choice of words reflected this. It could be suggested that an ad with a sense of humour will get a GP from a closed mode to the open mode quicker than anything else, and thus influence attention to the ad.
