Hydrolyzed casein and 0.5% enzymically hydrolyzed casein do not support growth. Of the substrates tested, only succinate supports growth and is quantitatively converted to propionic acid. Carbon dioxide is probably produced, but this compound was not measured in our analysis. Both rumen fluid and yeast extract are required to obtain good growth on succinate. In medium containing 40 mM succinate, 40% rumen fluid, and 0.2% yeast extract the shortest doubling time estimated from measurements of optical density at 600 nm in tubes having an inside diameter of 13.5 mm is almost 2 h. Although fumarate does not support growth, it supplies energy for growth when it is supplied together with succinate. The mean maximum optical densities for the four strains in medium containing 40% rumen fluid, 0.2% yeast extract, and 40 mM succinate and in medium containing 40% rumen fluid, 0.2% yeast extract, 40 mM succinate, and 10 mM fumarate were 0.23 and 0.28, respectively. Growth is not inhibited by fumarate when equimolar amounts of fumarate and succinate 40 mM each ; are included; however, growth is slower and maximum optical densities are not as high as they are with 80 mM succinate, but they are higher than they are with 60 mM succinate. Malonate does not inhibit growth on succinate at equimolar concentrations 30 mM each ; . None of the four strains liquefies gelatin, produces hydrogen sulfide, reduces nitrate, or synthesizes urease or catalase. Growth in medium prepared under anoxic conditions is similar irrespective of whether a reducing agent cysteine plus sulfide ; is included, but when air 2 ml per 5 ml of medium in 13-ml tubes ; is added to medium lacking a reducing agent, little growth occurs. There is no growth at 22 C, but the strains respond differently to incubation at 45 C. The approximate maximum optical densities when strains S4-2, S1-1T, S2-3, and S3-2 are incubated at 45 C are 0.01, 0.03, 0.08, and 0.14, respectively, compared with optical densities of 0.18 to 0.20 after incubation at 39 C medium containing 1% 37 mM ; succinate. DNA base composition. The mean G C content of the DNA is about 46 mol% 46.2 and 46.6 mol% for strain S1-1T and 45.3 and 47.3 mol% for strain S3-2 in separate determinations ; . Cellular fatty acids. Phylogenetic analysis. An almost complete 16S rDNA sequence 95% of the E. coli 16S rDNA sequence ; was determined for strain S1-1T. Partial 16S rDNA sequences comprising the 500 bases of the 5 end of the 16S rDNA were determined for the other three strains described in this study. The partial sequences were found to be identical to the strain S1-1T sequence in the region compared, and therefore, these organisms are considered highly related. When the 16S rDNA sequence of strain S1-1T was compared with all of the 16S rDNA sequences of clostridia and related taxa available, it was most similar to the sequences of Selenomonas species. Strain S1-1T falls in the radiation that includes the genera Selenomonas and Zymophilus Fig. 2 ; , a phylogenetic cluster designated cluster IX by Collins et al. 1 ; . The new bacterium is phylogenetically unrelated to Pseudobutyrivibrio ruminis, which falls in cluster XIVa 19 ; . The 16S rDNA sequence similarities between strain S1-1T and the Selenomonas and Zymophilus species shown in Fig. 2 range from 87.9 to 89.8%. Present evidence for neutrino masses and mixings can be summarized as: 1 ; the atmospheric |m2 | 1 - 5 ; 10-3 eV2 is associated with a mixing, 23 , near to maximal [1]; 31 2 ; the solar m2 prefers the LMA-MSW solution [2]; CHOOZ reactor data [3] give severe 21 limits for |Ue3 |. In this contribution we are going to discuss that contrary to a wide spread belief, Earth effects on the propagation of atmospheric neutrinos can become observable [4] even if |Ue3 | is small, but non-vanishing. This fact would allow to determine the sign of m2 [6]. For baselines L smaller than the Earth diameter, appropiate for atmospheric 31 m2 neutrinos, 4E21 L 21 1, so that we will neglect the 1, 2 ; -oscillating phase in vacuum against the 2, 3 ; -one. This is a very good aproximation, unless the high m2 -region of 21 the LMA solution turns out to be the solution to the solar problem. In that case we should m2 21 take into account corrections of order O m2 ; see eg. [5] ; . 21 In section 2 we discuss the correspondence between the determination of the sign of 2 m31 and the observation of the Earth effects in a transition involving e . The change expected in the neutrino spectrum and mixing due to matter effects, both for sin 13 s13 0 and s13 0, are pointed out. In the latter case, section 3 studies the observability of the MSW-resonance, with a positive conclusion for baselines L 7000 km . Its impact on the survival probability is pointed out. Section 4 gives an analysis of the matterinduced CPT-odd asymmetry, together with the realistic charge-asymmetry expected for atmospheric neutrinos. In section 5 we present some conclusions.

This will make it easier to compare the data with the data of other registries and reduce the training and data abstraction burden on sites. Some examples of standard systems used to classify important data elements are listed in Table 3.86 After investigating clinical data standards, registry planners may find that there are no useful standards or established data sets for the registry, or that these standards comprise only a small portion of the data set. In these cases, the registry will need to define and select data elements with the guidance of its project team, which may include an advisory board. When selecting data elements, it is often helpful to gather input from statisticians, epidemiologists, psychometricians, and experts in health outcomes assessment who will be analyzing the data, as they may notice potential analysis issues that need to be considered at the time of data element selection. Open conformation of human UMP CMP kinase In summary to this section, we have divided the motion of the NMP-binding region into two steps. The first one is the concerted motion around hinges I and IV that moves helices 2 and 4 as a rigid body. The second motion is around hinges II and III which operates on helix 3, resulting in a dramatic rotation of approximately 57. The combined effect of hinges I & IV and II & III on helix 3 is a rotation of 68. The implication of this value being equal to the sum of the individual rotational angles of the two set of hinges 11 from hinges I & IV, 57 from hinges II & III ; is that the two sets of hinges move helix 3 in the same direction, in an additive manner. Conformational changes of the LID region The LID region of most NMP kinases mammalian thymidylate kinases being a notable exception 29 contains several arginines that are crucial for catalysis. Only in the substratebound state do these arginines adopt a conformation that allows a direct interaction with the phosphates of ATP. The LID of human UMP CMP kinase is composed of helix 6b, a loop, and helix 7a. Two hinges determine the movement in the LID. The first hinge separates helix 6b from the CORE and is located at residues 128 and 129. The second hinge separates helix 7a from the CORE and is located at residues 158 and 159. The two helices in the LID region move approximately as a rigid body rmsd of 0.87 for 20 atoms ; between the open and closed form with a total rotation of 18. However, a more complicated conformational change for the loop connecting them is apparent from its poor superposition after applying the transformation matrix based only on the helices. This implies the existence of internal hinges that operate on the loop of the LID region, but due to poor electron density we were not able to identify these residues with confidence. A. Samples of counted cells were either selected in ornithine i.e. they were transferred to ornithine-medium with 10% dialysed serum and 1 mM- V-acetylglutamate ; , or else they were treated with diamide as described in Materials and Methods. All tests were done in 25 cm2 flasks with 5 ml medium. Clones greater than 1 mm in diameter were scored at 2 weeks. Results are shown for two or more flasks in most instances. Both cell lines have a cloning efficiency of about 70% in standard arginine-medium. These figures are approximate, as these cultures showed a background of small clones in addition to the larger ones that were counted. B. The hepatomas were assayed for OTC and Glc-6-PD before and after selection by ornithinemedium or by diamide. The clones surviving selection were pooled and grown to confluency for assay.
